Lockdown really heightened my senses. Perhaps it was the newsreel of symptoms - loss of taste, temperature, dry throat. Maybe it was the sirens high pitched and constant as they cut through uncommonly silent streets. Queens: the epicentre of the epicentre. Birdsong, amplified by the lack of planes overhead, chatting neighbours or passing cars. Silence punctuated by sound. Silence, punctuated by numbers. One emphasizing the other. Ever increasing. Exponential.
Did I rush out and purchase materials? Was I incredibly productive? No. I would say that this period has been one of tinkering, of recycling and repairing. Somehow repetitive actions - a brush stroke, a tear, a knot seemed appropriate. Quietly marking how each individual act or person adds to something greater.
