The sketchbook shown here contains drawings made in Palermo's Capuchin Crypts, where photography is not permitted. This visual record is neither objectively correct nor entirely abstract - instead it captures a physical reaction as well as a psychological impression of that environment - the stillness of death punctuated by a visual cacophony.
Sketch books containing lines made on the move, drawings made with eyes closed or under constraint are often my starting point.
